Mann
A Mental Health Project

Sad Reality

Lack of awareness of mental health issues and access to mental health care services coupled with the stigma around them in communities, be it family units, education institutes or workplaces.

Why is it important to address this injustice?

Addressing this problem can help destigmatize mental illness, raise awareness and prevent people from developing serious issues. This project has the potential to literally ease the suffering and mental agony of the people it impacts.

Mental Health Care

Who does this problem affect and how?

EVERYONE!
Mental health issues can affect anyone regardless of gender, age, race, etc. However, because of social vices like gender-based discrimination and poverty, certain groups have patterns in their mental health problems and/or suffer more than others.

What’s the plan?

To solve this problem, we address the root causes: lack of awareness, access to proper mental health care tools & resources and stigmas surrounding mental health by conducting experiential (activity based learning) sessions on mental health with at-risk kids (underprivileged, traumatized, disabled, orphans) from Village Old Satwari, Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir.

In order to make a significant impact, it is necessary that we engage with a few selected kids consistently. Therefore, a 90-minute group counseling session with experiential activities by a clinical psychologist is held each week in Village Old Satwari for 15 kids that are in dire need of this support.

Each week, one-on-one sessions are also held for the kids with serious cases that need immediate care.
